Brand identity, naming & design consultancy

Brands built with the discipline of an in-house team, and the focus of one.

Approach

Creative projects

Every project starts with properly understanding the brief — not just what's being asked for, but what's caused problems before, where the real opportunity sits, and what will actually land with the end user. Early work is fast and loose: rough scamps, scrappy routes, iterating until something strong emerges. That mess matters — it's where clarity is earned, not assumed.

The most impactful creative says one thing well. Briefs that try to carry too many messages get challenged, because dilution is the fastest way to lose impact. The work has to live in the real world too: engaging, deliverable within budget and scale, and distinctive enough to stand out against everything else competing for attention — not just within its own sector.

Leadership

A practical, collaborative and emotionally intelligent way of working — creating space for people to do their best work while keeping clear standards and accountability. Delivering on time and on budget matters, but never at the expense of the team doing the work.

Clarity and communication come first: regular reviews, honest conversations, and workflows that hold up under pressure. Stakeholders get clear expectations early — what good creative actually takes, agreed SLAs, and demand managed so quality never gets compromised.

Selected work

Brand identity, campaigns and rebrands, built across agency and in-house roles.

Brand identity & rollout

Milton Keynes College rebrand

Full identity refresh across signage, guidelines and digital — built to flex across sub-brands with very different audiences.

Brand identity

Responsa brand identity

Naming-led identity for a business consultancy — "responsa," Latin for answers, built around a mark where the client and consultancy visibly merge.

Campaign

School leavers recruitment campaign

The College's largest annual campaign — art direction, prospectus and integrated marketing built to shift perception of the College as a top-tier FE provider.

Rebrand

Graduate: barbers & hair and beauty salon

Combined rebrand for a professional training barbers (with Wahl UK) and its sister hair & beauty salon — modern identity built around craft and training heritage.

Event branding

Festival in the City

Event identity for MK College's end-of-year Art, Design, Fashion and Performing Arts showcase — a four-day city-centre event drawing 30,000+ visitors.

Campaign & naming

Adult student recruitment campaign

Repositioned the College as The Skills Agency for 19+ learners — strategy, naming, prospectus and digital built to shift low perception among adult audiences.

Show reel

A short reel of identity and campaign work in motion.

About

mrxtfr is the freelance practice of Adrian "Ade" Christopher — a brand and design lead with 20+ years across agency and in-house work, building identity systems for organisations with hundreds of locations and running the design function behind them day to day.

That means the work here isn't just a nice mark and a colour palette. It's a system built to survive contact with a real business — franchise networks, regional teams, and the people who'll have to apply it long after the project ends.

Available for project-based and ongoing consultancy work. Not currently taking on work that competes directly with an existing employer relationship.
